Board Member Spotlight Eddie Bratko

As President of MultiCare Tacoma General and Allenmore Hospitals, Eddie Bratko is a results-driven executive that oversees clinical quality, financial performance and community engagement for the hospitals by forging strong physician alliances and partnerships throughout the Puget Sound region.  In May, Bratko was appointed to the executive committee of the EDB Tacoma Pierce County.

  • Why did you decide to join the EDB Board when you were invited to do so?

There were a few reasons it felt like a fit with the EDB.  I moved here about 18 months ago and this seemed like a great way to learn more about the economic realities in the region.  I have an economics degree, and I enjoy learning more about what the community needs to be healthy financially as well as personally.  With my role at MultiCare and the number of employees we have in the area it made sense to me to work with an organization focused on economic growth.  My family also moved here with me, and they will be living and working here and I want them to have great opportunities as well.

  • What do you feel is the most important element you bring to this Board?

I am hopeful that I have been able to build some great relationships in the community with like-minded people.  My background in economics and experience working in both the for profit and not for profit fields provide a diverse perspective.  At MultiCare our mission statement is “Partnering for healing and a healthy future”.  I think the people who choose to be part of the EDB board can all be great partners as we bring forward our expertise to help find solutions to the problems we need to tackle.

  • What accomplishments have you already achieved as a board member and are there other things you would you like to achieve?

I am pretty new in the role and I feel like I’m still getting my bearings a little bit.  My biggest accomplishment so far has been learning more about what the EDB does for Tacoma-Pierce County and how I can help.  As I move into an executive committee role, I’m excited to help with our upcoming campaign.  It would be exciting to exceed our goal and know I was a part of that effort.

  • What is something about yourself that others in the business community might not know about you?

I enjoy sports and being outdoors.  I am an Eagle Scout and Buffalo Bills season ticket holder.  I played competitive baseball in the Buffalo Men’s Senior Baseball League for 8 years as a catcher and outfielder.
