Last month, Maddie Merton, Vice President for Business Retention & Expansion at the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County (EDB), traveled to the Greater Los Angeles region to strengthen relationships with two key companies: Niagara Bottling and Mitsui-Soko USA.

Niagara Bottling: State of Our Communities Summit

The EDB participated in Niagara Bottling’s inaugural State of Our Communities Summit, joining economic and community leaders from across the country to discuss workforce development, sustainability, and community engagement.  Niagara Bottling, a family-owned non-alcoholic beverage manufacturer, operates 100+ plants across the U.S., Mexico, the UK, and Australia, and is one of the largest private-label bottled water manufacturers in the world. A major supplier to Costco’s Kirkland Signature Brand and other top retailers, Niagara is recognized for its commitment to quality, customer service, and innovation.

In 2014, the EDB successfully recruited Niagara Bottling to Pierce County, resulting in the opening of their Frederickson plant. Since then, the EDB has supported Niagara’s growth through multiple expansions, providing assistance with permitting, workforce development, and community integration.  “Niagara’s investment in communities aligns with the EDB’s mission to support business growth and regional prosperity. Mitsui-Soko: Growing Global Logistics Connections

While in California, the EDB also met with Mitsui-Soko USA, a global logistics and warehousing provider with growing operations in Pierce County. Discussions focused on understanding their business needs, upcoming growth plans, and how the EDB can continue to support their success in our region.  Mitsui-Soko’s global reach and logistics expertise strengthen Pierce County’s position as a key West Coast trade and distribution hub.
