Daily Journal of Commerce loves Tacoma

Tacoma Pierce County WA economic development edb seattle daily journal of commerce

They love us.

The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce devoted an entire special section to projects popping up all over Tacoma, including a $125 million mixed-use complex in the Brewery District, an extension of the in-city light rail system and the country’s first Vietnamese-funded housing.

These and other projects – a highrise convention center hotel and investments in venues to spur tourism – are proof that local developers are bullish on Tacoma.

They really, really love us.

It’s not just development, but redevelopment that makes Tacoma so attractive.

The historic Horizon Pacific Building’s hip new office spaces demonstrate that our fair city loves its old buildings. Vacancy rates have declined and rents are rising.

Other sectors are attracting development, too. Industrial lands are “a goldmine,” with worldwide connections by rail, land, air, and sea.

The hot multi-family market in Seattle has found its way south to Pierce County. Likewise, like the Sound Transit rail extensions are rapidly connecting more neighborhoods.

All this goes to show that the City of Destiny’s ‘time to make it’ has come.
