Jeff Robinson caps 40-year career
After four decades working in the public, private, nonprofit and financial sectors, City of Tacoma Community and Economic Development Director Jeff Robinson will close the book on a storied career in June.
Economic growth for all
Since taking the helm at the Community and Economic Development Department in 2018, Robinson has been laser-focused on a range of programs and projects that foster equitable economic growth, including small business support, the city’s Green Economic Development Strategy, progressive homeownership initiatives that pave the way for more affordable housing options, and more.
Did we mention that a lot of that happened during a global pandemic?
Robinson’s diverse career path prior to his tenure in Tacoma is a testament to his deep-rooted passion for community development. He was the first manager of the Washington State Housing Trust Fund; Community and Economic Director for the Martin Luther King Housing Development Association; Vice President of Community Development for US Bank; Regional Vice President for Mercy Housing; and Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of SeaTac.
“Jeff has been a champion for equitable economic development and opportunity throughout his career and leaves an indelible mark on the Tacoma community,” EDB CEO Bruce Kendall said. “His retirement is a well-deserved next chapter.”
As he leaves his post, Robinson offers these parting words of advice: “It’s important to advocate for the things that are important to you and your community,” he said. “Stay informed, stay engaged, and stay in touch with what’s happening in your community.”
