South Sound Proud is looking to fund startup projects that will help attract community engagement, build a sense of pride or support economic development.

South Sound Proud is a project of South Sound Together, a group of community supporters from more than two dozen local businesses and organizations. Past endeavors funded by South Sound Proud include the Downtown to Defiance Pierce Transit Trolley, awesome murals across the South Sound, grants that help organizations promote justice and equality for young people, and the Next Leaders Forum for young people who aspire to civic leadership.

South Sound Together has also provided funding for a leadership development project by the Oasis Youth Center, a trusted gathering space and resource for LGBTQ+ youth in Pierce County. And it helped bring Sue’s Tech Kitchen to Tacoma. The three-day interactive event engages children in STEM education and technology.
