Biotech emerging in Pierce County
RAIN, Geneva Foundation emerging biotech presence
The news from Revalesio is big, and it’s just one example of an emerging biotech focus in Tacoma-Pierce County. Two Tacoma-based nonprofits are also in the mix.
With a vision for Tacoma and the region to be a major industrial and commercial player in the life science sector, a new biotech incubator opened in September near the University of Washington Tacoma campus. The Readiness Acceleration and Innovation Network (RAIN), which provides start-up companies with support for research and development, prototyping, business development and launch, is a collaboration between UW Tacoma, MultiCare Health System and Madigan Army Medical Center.
The Geneva Foundation helps advance innovative medical research and excellence in education within the U.S. military. The organization has more than 500 employees worldwide and partners with federal research labs and major military medical facilities across the globe, including the place where it all began—Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
We’ll share more as this sector continues to evolve in Tacoma-Pierce County.
