Celebrate Juneteenth June 19

It’s official. Juneteenth is now a federal holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Celebrate on June 19 by supporting Black businesses. The Black Business Market Juneteenth Celebration will be held 12-8 pm at the Waterfront Market at Ruston. The event will feature pop-up Black-owned vendors, food, entertainment and activities for all.

You can also attend the 2nd Annual Juneteenth Day of Freedom celebration, 3-8 pm at Clarks Creek Park South in Puyallup. Presented by The Two-Way Racial Healing Project, the event will feature music, food, spoken word and more.

There’s even more to celebrate this month. June 12 is Loving Day, the anniversary of the historic day the Supreme Court struck down state bans against interracial marriage.
