For global construction consulting firm Currie & Brown, Tacoma-Pierce County ticks all the right boxes: a convenient location, ample space and lower costs than Seattle. That’s why the company opened a new office in Tacoma in 2019.

For several years, the Washington state office of Currie & Brown consisted of a small crew working in a shared space in Seattle. The company provides construction consulting services to clients around the globe, driven by an international team of experts and highly collaborative regional networks. To create sustainable, methodical processes for Currie & Brown’s construction-auditing business in Washington, the company needed to hire additional people. In addition, Currie & Brown’s Washington team needed to be able to work together in a dedicated workspace.

The high price tag to lease in Seattle, combined with the fact that most employees already lived in the South Sound, led Currie & Brown to Tacoma-Pierce County.

In 2019, Currie & Brown opened a new office in downtown Tacoma with support from the Economic Development Board of Tacoma-Pierce County. The Tacoma location checked all the right boxes for Currie & Brown: more space for less money, affordable parking, a convenient location and flexibility to customize the office space.

Today, Tacoma serves as a regional hub for Currie & Brown, providing the perfect location for collaboration with its Portland office nearby. The company is well-positioned for future growth in Tacoma, with access to a highly trained talent pool that can enhance Currie & Brown’s engineering, design, advisory and management services worldwide.
