Statement about DaVita’s move to Federal Way
The Economic Development Board’s statement about DaVita’s decision to consolidate operations in Federal Way
The City of Tacoma and the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County (EDB) collaborated to provide options to DaVita’s corporate leadership in order to retain them in Tacoma. These options would have provided a solid foundation for DaVita to succeed and grow in Pierce County. Instead they decided to move to Federal Way. We think this is a disappointing decision.
It is time to look ahead. Tacoma is a rapidly growing, thriving community that offers much to businesses including a business-friendly environment, excellent transportation, and all the advantages of a vibrant urban community.
The building is in prime office location in Tacoma’s downtown business district. It will provide a rare and attractive leasing opportunity for our strong local office market. The EDB pledges to work with our partners to attract new tenants to join the ranks of State Farm, Columbia Bank, and others in Tacoma’s flourishing downtown.
