EDB relaunches Investor Briefing program

Retaining and recruiting high-wage businesses is the bread and butter work of the EDB. It’s important to keep investors “in the loop” on how the organization is making progress toward its goals.
The EDB Investor Briefing program helps investors understand the effect of their contributions on the growth and diversification of the regional economy. In September, after a long pandemic-induced hiatus, the EDB relaunched the program with an outing to the Tacoma Tideflats.
“The Investor Briefing was a resounding success, drawing attendees who represented the rich diversity of our investor community,” EDB CEO Bruce Kendall said. “We were thrilled to see familiar faces and welcome new ones, all sharing a common interest in the economic development of our region.”
Connecting with the future
During a 90-minute bus tour of the Tideflats, around 30 investors learned how local and international businesses are dynamically shaping the economic landscape of our region. The Port of Tacoma serves as a crucial economic driver, and the event provided valuable insights into the strategic importance of this vital asset.
Stops at key locations included:
- U.S. Oil: Investors learned about the vital role U.S. Oil plays in the region’s energy infrastructure and its commitment to sustainability.
- TOTE Maritime Alaska: TOTE showcased their impressive operations and contributions to the global supply chain.
- SAFE Boats: The world of maritime innovation at SAFE Boats includes cutting-edge technologies that are shaping the future of maritime security and safety.
“The investor briefing was a reminder of the power of collaboration and the strength of our business community,” said Rachel Askew, NEXT Consulting Founder and Managing Partner. “Together, we are driving economic growth through business recruitment, retention and expansion, and ensuring a brighter future for Tacoma-Pierce County.”
Additional briefings will be scheduled to accommodate the roster of more than 80 EDB investors.
