Join the PowerUp community conversation about technology
Tuesday, February 15 • 11:30 am – 1 pm
Technology is critical to our daily lives. But what does its growing presence in our workplaces and at home mean for our community?
Join Goodwill Olympics & Rainier Region Feb. 15 for a virtual community conversation about the power of technology.
You’ll hear from two Pierce County-based entrepreneurs who have put technology to work to serve our community in much-needed ways.
-
- EDB Board Member Markiss Cooper founded iHAUL to help people and businesses with last-mile delivery of products and supplies, leveraging technology to bring us what we need, when we need it.
- Laura Malcom founded Give lnKind to help us help each other during the ups and downs of life in a way that’s easy, efficient and impactful.
Cooper and Malcom are part of a trend of new business leaders who are creating opportunities for the people of our region. But does everyone have the skills to tap into those opportunities? Two local educators will share their views.
-
- EDB Board Member Andrew Fry, Director of Industry Partnerships at the University of Washington Tacoma, is focused on building partnerships between tech education and the tech industry and promoting digital skills to help people thrive in all aspects of work and life.
- Calvin Crawford, Goodwill’s Digital Skills instructor, helps people learn the skills needed to compete for the growing number of local tech industry jobs.
The conversation will be facilitated by Eu-wanda Eagans, Goodwill Senior Vice President of Workforce Development.
